Dallas comic book shop hosts hip singles event for local geeks.
Friday night, September 26th, geeks of all stripes in Dallas will be headed down to Lone Star Comics on Mockingbird to check out their “Geek Singles Night” from 7:00 to 11:00pm. Sponsored by the dating website SweetOnGeeks.com, Geek Monthly Magazine, Bawls “G33K B33R” energy drink, and North Texas Mensa the evening will include food, drinks, games, and live music from local musicians and bands, including Andrew Delaney and the booked as Scarves & Bowties but who have just changed their name to Dirty Birds.
The event promises to bring local geeks together from all over the metroplex to meet and make new acquaintances, new friends, and new romantic connections. The first geek singles night was held at Brave New World Comics in Newhall, CA, and since then Sweet On Geeks has been sponsoring these singles events across the country. The website itself, SweetOnGeeks.com, has been bringing geeks together online since 2006, when it was founded by self-professed geek couple Jeff and Joyce Dales.

I had a rotten time at this event.. i doubt ill be back at another one.. poorly executed and not enough women to talk too.. :(
I didn't have a bad time. For what it was it was enjoyable. Most of the people there seemed uncomfortable "mingling" and stayed with the they arrived with. That is to be expected though. I did however, feel about 20 years to old to be there. Most of the people there could have been kids age if I had any. Though I doubt that I'll attend another "Lone star comics" based event in the future, I did get in some geek shopping time and that was fun.
